ACT is a standardized entrance exam taken by many colleges
and universities in US, considers ACT scores as part of their admission
selection criteria. The test becomes the common ground on which colleges measure
applicant’s capabilities to opt for particular course. ACT test can be given
each year in September, October, December, February, April and June.
Typically, ACT test comprises of four multiple choice
sections: Math, English Science and Reading with optional writing test. Some of
the academic institution require applicant to pass writing test. The total testing time is 2 hours and 55
minutes to perform on above said four sections and 30 minutes optional writing
test.
ACT Mathematics:
This section comprises of 60 five-choice questions answered n 60 minutes. It
covers Pre, elementary and intermediate algebra, coordinate and plane geometry
and trigonometry.
ACT English:
This section comprises of 75 questions in 45 minutes and covers the skills on
sentence structure, grammar along with punctuation. It tests organization,
style and strategy applied by the students while answering this section.
ACT Science: It comprises of 40 four-choice questions in 35
minutes. It tests interpretation, reasoning, evaluation, analysis and problem
solving skills of the student. The questions consists of data representation,
research summaries and conflicting viewpoints questions.
ACT Reading: The section is about reading comprehension,
consists of 40 questions in 35 minutes with four choice reasoning and referring
questions.
The optional English writing test comprises of one essay
where student is tested on his prompt reaction and writing flair on particular
topic.
The students can register, prepare and get ACT scores
online, however, they have to appear for the test in person.
